Academics
Educational
At Burns Military Christian Academy, our academic mission is to foster an environment that nurtures students to reach their highest potential, guided by their unique abilities and inspired by Proverbs 22:6. We strive to cultivate a personal commitment and responsibility towards their studies among our students. Our aim is to ignite a spirit of inquiry and to instill effective study and work habits, enabling them to consistently perform at their best and achieve excellence. Recognition is awarded annually to students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievements and exemplary conduct.
Curriculum
At Burns Military Christian Academy, we incorporate Abeka ProTeach Supplemental Videos alongside our SC Board of Education certified in-classroom teachers and teacher's assistants. These resources are specifically designed to enhance the learning experience within a Christian school environment. The videos feature expert teachers delivering lessons, offering a comprehensive educational resource that supplements the instruction provided by our full-time, SC Board of Education certified in-classroom teachers. This means your child will receive guidance and assistance not only from a computer screen but also directly from an in-classroom teacher.
Accreditation
Educational accreditation is a process by which educational institutions demonstrate that they meet certain standards of quality and integrity. Religious schools, however, are not required to seek accreditation from governmental agencies. This is because religious schools often have their own accrediting bodies, such as the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools (SCACS), which certify teachers and accredit Christian schools in South Carolina.
Burns Military Christian Academy, as an institution, is not yet accredited but the Abeka Academy curriculum we use is accredited by both MSA CESS, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools and FACCS, Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. BMCA will seek accreditation from SCACS, which does not require faculty certification or school accreditation by any governmental agency. This decision is based on several reasons:
-
BMCA believes that state-approved textbooks, which may teach and promote secular humanism and other philosophies contrary to the Word of God, should not be mandated.
-
Psalm 1:1 advises walking not in the counsel of the ungodly, and accreditation by a governmental agency could subject the works of God to the approval of individuals who may not share the same faith, potentially disrupting the effective operation of the Lord's work.
-
State accreditation on the elementary and secondary level is not a requirement for a school's graduates to be admitted to an institution of higher learning. Christian, private, and state colleges or universities accept students based on entrance exams (ACT or SAT scores) and individual high school performance, as indicated by their transcript.
This approach allows Burns Military Christian Academy to maintain its religious and educational integrity without compromising its faith-based values.
