Philosophy of Education
The philosophy of Burns Military Christian Academy underscores the collaboration of three institutions to
enhance the child's development.
The Institution of the Home
It is our unwavering belief that the foundation for proper training is established within the home. The home, the first institution ordained by God, is where children initially learn the patterns of behavior. Each child develops a response to discipline and authority based on how they react to the guidelines or controls set by their parents. In the home, children also learn how to interact with others, whether through play or by following parental direction and training. It is here that children acquire a system of values that distinguishes right from wrong. When children are taught proper discipline and respect in their early years at home, they are then prepared to be educated and develop the necessary skills to face life and eternity successfully.
The Institution of the Church
It is our belief that God has appointed His Church as the principal institution entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the unbelievers to Christ and fostering the faith of the believers. This responsibility includes the teaching of biblical principles as detailed in the Scriptures. We believe that the Bible depicts the local church as a fellowship of regenerated believers, led by a pastor under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We affirm that children from Christian families should be educated in reverence for God, His Word, and the biblical principles found within. We hope that each individual will live in accordance with these principles. To assist our children in achieving the spiritual milestones we both aim for, we encourage the Burns Military Christian Academy families to regularly attend church.
The Institution of the School
Lastly, our belief that a school, such as Burns Military Christian Academy, is an institution established by children of God, designed for the education and development of our young people. An academy should offer an atmosphere and syllabus that foster effective learning. As a Christian academy, it is our duty to contribute to the cultivation of Christian virtues in our students. We hold that children should be educated to act rightly because it is right to act rightly. We acknowledge the inherent need for clearly defined boundaries to guide their conduct. Given that all truth originates from God, it is our mission and objective for our academy to uncover and connect truth with our daily lives. Education that is centered on Christ is a biblically integrated process of personal, mental, and physical growth. The ultimate goal is not to conform to the norms of the age, but to conform to Christ.
